The First China-Korea Forum on Global Health Development

Objectives

To conduct a structured comparative analysis of how the Chinese and Korean governments design, finance, govern, allocate resources to, and evaluate overseas health assistance programs in LMICs, and to assess how these institutional and policy approaches influence program effectiveness, equity, and sustainability.
To examine the role of academic institutions in both countries in supporting government overseas health engagement, including their contributions to policy formulation, program design, implementation support, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, and knowledge translation—and to explore how these roles could evolve under changing global financing conditions.
To develop a set of evidence-informed recommendations for the governments of China and Korea to enhance the strategic coherence, effectiveness, impact, equity, and sustainability of their overseas health assistance programs amid declining global health assistance and ODA.

How can the health researchers from China and Korea strengthen their research capabilities to support policy development effectively?What are they strong in? What needs to be strengthened further? What are the major barriers in conducting high-quality research to guide health programs and policies, or in translating such research to programs and policies? [Group B] Practice & Policy — service delivery, implementation, and strategic directions From the implementing countries’ perspective, how can the programs or strategies improve on impact, equity and sustainability? How should the governments of China and Korea reposition their ODA policies and health assistance strategies to sustain effectiveness and impact amid declining global health financing?
