Curriculum Description

Global Health Epidemiology

This course encompasses the contents of the required subject, “Ecological Principle”, and is provided to learn epidemiological contents related to global health. Representative examples of global health issues include the epidemic of infectious diseases in the region and the world, chronic diseases and risk factors, and health problems related to climate change. The content of the class deals with 1) the role of epidemiology in global health, 2) the method of technological epidemiology, and 3) the method of researching health determinants. As research on health and health is globalized, and policy efforts to solve health problems are increasingly beyond the scope of individual countries, the need to understand and deal with these contents is also being raised in the field of epidemiology. This course aims to learn various methods of evaluating global health problems, prioritizing problems, finding causes of health problems, and suggesting alternatives based on them through actual cases and data.

Comparative health systems and policies

The purpose of this course is to understand and compare the medical systems of countries around the world in detail, and to examine the differences between medical systems so that they can be applied to the development of Korea’s medical system in the future. To this end, the general discussion systematically classifies medical system analysis methodology lectures and the world’s medical system, analyzes its development process, historical background, and strengths and weaknesses. In each discussion, the medical delivery system, financing system, medical remuneration payment method and medical cost management, management and operation system, and the quality of health care services in different countries are compared and considered.

Global Environmental Health

Asia’s rapid economic growth and activities can cause various environmental health problems. However, the scope and quality of environmental health problems between countries may differ according to various cultural and geographic backgrounds. Accordingly, environmental health problems cross the boundaries between countries, and as a result, it is also becoming important to learn and share with each other the specific environmental problems that occur in each country. Therefore, this course was established to allow professors and students from various international backgrounds to learn and share environmental problems occurring in each country.
